As a dedicated children’s mural artist I have learned a number of lessons about what it takes to paint an effective kid's mural and I'll be happy to share some of those lessons with you.

Designing your Kid's Mural, Steps 1-2

Step 1

Calculate step by step how long you think it will take to design and paint your
mural. Now triple that estimate. Even professional mural artists chronically
underestimate the time it takes to execute murals especially larger ones. In
order to do it well, even a simple, smallish mural may take you a full week to
complete. You should know that you have the time and energy to finish the
project before you start.

Step 2

Think years ahead. Determine a theme that your kid’s will enjoy for four or five years. Look to the last page of this article for some popular mural themes along with some additional painting tips.
